A THUG once said to have been hailed a hero for saving a woman from a fire is behind bars for a horror knife attack on a pub bouncer.
David Cullen turned on Nathan Dickerson, who was on his first shift at the then Shamrock Susie’s bar in Cathcart Street.
CCTV captured what Cullen himself described as “mayhem” in the crowded pub after an incident involving a friend of the 31-year-old.
Mr Dickerson was attacked after trying to step in to break up the fight on December 30, 2023.
Paul Mullen, defending, added that Cullen had earlier taken a blade from others in his group ironically in a bid to stop any violence.
The solicitor advocate said: “He used the knife, in his words, on the very last person it should have been used on, as Nathan Dickerson was there to quell what was going on.”
Mr Mullen then told how Cullen was “well known in the local community”, as a few years ago he had rescued a female neighbour from a burning building, and had gone on to receive “adulation and praise”.
But, the lawyer said: “His behaviour on December 30, 2023 was deplorable.”
Lord Arthurson jailed Cullen for three years and nine months, a sentence reduced from one of five years to take account of his guilty plea.
