Oldham nightclub suspends Doorman after man is hospitalised

A doorman at Liquid and Envy has been suspended after a man was hospitalised following a “confrontation” outside the nightclub.

Shortly after 2am on Sunday (May 4), paramedics from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) were called to an incident outside the town centre nightclub on Waterloo Street.

A spokesperson for Liquid and Envy has said a customer allegedly “exhibited aggressive behaviour towards a member of the doorstaff after being refused entry”.

They added the doorman allegedly pushed the person, causing them to fall back and hit their head on the pavement.

A spokesperson for NWAS said a man was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, Liquid and Envy have said the doorman involved in the incident has been suspended while an investigation is carried out.

The spokesperson for the nightclub said: “The venue is aware of an incident involving a customer who exhibited aggressive behavior towards a member of the doorstaff after being refused entry to the club.

“During the confrontation, the doorman has pushed the individual back, resulting in the customer falling and hitting his head on the floor.

“Our security team promptly assisted the injured individual, placing him in the recovery position and providing care until paramedics arrived on the scene. The doorstaff member involved has been suspended pending a thorough investigation of the incident.

“Please be assured that we do not condone any form of conflict at our venue and are committed to maintaining a safe environment for all guests. Our understanding is the male in question has made a full recovery.”

Greater Manchester Police has been approached regarding the incident.
