Glasgow doorman fined after being found working on suspended licence

Tony Jones pleaded guilty to an offence under Section 3(1) of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 at Hamilton Sheriff Court on April 7.

A Glasgow bouncer has been fined after being found to be working without a licence.

Tony Jones pleaded guilty to an offence under Section 3(1) of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 at Hamilton Sheriff Court on April 7. The bouncer had been working as a door supervisor when SIA Investigations Officers carried out routine licence checks in Glasgow’s Haus bar.

They discovered that Jones had continued working at the bar despite having his licence suspended in January 2025. Officers claimed he said he did not know he had been suspended, but later admitted in an interview under caution with the SIA that this was a lie.

Jones was fined £250 for working between February 9 and March 1 without a licence. John Farrell, SIA Criminal Investigations Officer said: “By working with a suspended licence, Mr Jones put the people of Glasgow at risk, and I am glad to see that reflected through this successful prosecution.

“This case also sends a clear message to anyone thinking of engaging in wrongdoing in the private security industry. The SIA are out there, on the streets, ready to discover your misconduct and bring you to justice.”
