Police are investigating an assault at the Albany Club in Coventry, where a doorman was punched by an intoxicated man on the evening of Friday, April 17.
CCTV footage, which has been reviewed by CoventryLive, captures the moments leading up to the assault. The footage shows a visibly intoxicated man engaged in a heated argument with door staff at the entrance of the Albany Club on Earlsdon Street.
According to a statement from West Midlands Police, after being removed from the premises, the man turned and punched one of the doormen directly in the face.
Following the assault, the individual staggered a short distance down the street to The Earlsdon Cobbler. In his disoriented state, he collided with the shop’s shutter with such force that it smashed the window behind it. The man then proceeded to defecate on the pavement outside the building.
Keiron Knights, the owner of The Earlsdon Cobbler, reported that the incident has resulted in significant financial loss, estimating the damage to be hundreds of pounds.
West Midlands Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify and locate the suspect. They are appealing to the public for assistance and urge anyone with information regarding the incident or the identity of the man involved to come forward and contact them.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating after a man was assaulted on Earlsdon Street at around 8.40pm on Friday (April 17).
“No one has been arrested. Anyone with information has been asked to get in touch via 101, quoting 20/217247/26.”
