‘You will be missed’: Tributes for Ipswich doorman after cancer battle

A bar on the Ipswich Waterfront has left a heartfelt tribute to a “dear friend and colleague” following his battle with cancer.

Ben Lewry, who worked at Isaacs on the Quay for 15 years, died of cancer in recent weeks and has now been reflected on as a man “always in good spirits”.

Isaacs posted the tribute on social media for the 44-year-old.

The post said: “We were deeply saddened to learn earlier this week that our dear friend and colleague Ben Lewry had passed away after a heroic battle with cancer.

“Ben had been involved with Isaacs for well over a decade, and many thousands of our customers would have been greeted by Ben on the front door of Isaacs.

“Ben was greatly admired by our staff and the wider Isaacs family.

“Ben was always in good spirits, no matter the enormous challenges he was facing towards the end of his life.

“Our thoughts are with Ben’s friends and family at this difficult time.

“Thank you for everything, Ben. You will be missed.”

The post has received hundreds of reactions and messages of memories.
