Tributes have been paid to a “true gentleman” who worked the doors on Norwich’s nightclubs and bars as a security guard.
News of the death of Walid Ben Lazhar Ghannem, affectionately known as Will, was shared by his employer Regency Security.
Gary Powers, managing director, said: “Will was a true gentleman friend and was a massive asset to Regency, a friendly and larger than life character that worked for us for 15 years and was loved by all. He will be hugely missed.
“Our sincere condolences go out to Will’s family at this sad time… You will be greatly missed by us all.”
It is understood that Mr Ghannem died suddenly last week and his family, who are based outside of the county, have already held his funeral.
He had been an employee of Regency Security for 15 years and was a familiar face to many at numerous venues across the city.
Since the news of his passing was announced on social media, dozens of people have shared their condolences and memories.
