Blackburn man headbutted Doorman when ejected from bar

A man asked to leave a Blackburn town centre bar because he was causing problems decided to headbutt a member of the door staff.

Blackburn Magistrates’ Court heard Connor Kendall later caused issues at another venue and when a police officer went to arrest him he kneed the officer to the face.

Kendall, 23, of Stonyhurst Close, Blackburn, admitted to assaulting Muhammed Asif and PC Karl Duckworth on May 10.

He was given an 18-month community order with a five-day rehabilitation activity requirement, a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement, and a 90-day alcohol abstinence monitoring period.

He was also fined £200 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £300 compensation to Mr Asif and £100 to the officer.

Deputy District Judge Roger Lowe said he had been told Kendall was due to become a father for the first time.

“The order I am imposing is a tough one but it is there to help you.”

Zuleka Bhuta, prosecuting, said the doorman suffered a cut to his nose from the headbutt.

When he was challenged by the officer Kendall became abusive before striking the officer.

Gareth Price, by way of mitigation, said the offences went back to May and his client had since taken steps to address his issues.

“His mother is very supportive and is keen to help him get help with his drug and alcohol issues,” added Mr Price.
