Morrisons is examining the behaviour of one of its store security personnel following footage surfacing online appearing to show an elderly man being shoved into a shop window before tumbling to the ground.
Witnesses stated the gentleman, who requested anonymity, was confronted by a security officer as he departed the Neath Morrisons location ahead of the incident.
Upon leaving the premises with his purchases, they reported the alarms activated and the footage captures a security officer approaching the gentleman.
They maintained the gentleman presented the officer with his receipt and clarified that he had also triggered the alarm upon entering the premises.
As the situation escalated another customer, Trish Paul, recorded the incident on her device, reports Wales Online.
Her video appears to show the two men in a physical confrontation before the pensioner is pushed into a glass window.
The two men then move away from the window, still locked together, before both fall to the floor. Store staff are then said to have emerged and intervened before the security guard returned inside the store.
Commenting on the incident a spokesperson for Morrisons said it took the safety of its customers and staff very seriously. It said its investigation remained ongoing.
They said: “We take the safety and security of our colleagues and customers very seriously and our guarding supplier is cooperating with us to investigate this urgently.”
