A WREXHAM man cannot set foot in any pubs or clubs in Wrexham city centre for nine months after breaking a doorman’s nose.
Kian Davies, of Broxton Road, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old admitted that on February 9 this year at ATIK in Brook Street, he assaulted Garry Pugh by beating him.
He further admitted being in possession of cocaine on that date.
Prosecutor James Ashton gave the court a brief overview of the facts, explaining the victim of the assault was a member of the door staff at ATIK.
The assault itself had entailed a ‘single punch’ and resulted in Mr Pugh sustaining a fractured nose.
Melissa Griffiths, defending, told the court: “When interviewed, he wasn’t represented.
“He initially answered no comment, but then he was shown the CCTV footage.
“He then apologised. And when shown a picture of the injuries he caused he said he’d like to apologise to the injured party.
“There are no issues with drink and drugs but he accepts he had been found in possession of cocaine.
“I asked him and he said he uses it rarely, but it’s not an issue for him.”
District Judge Gwyn Jones told the defendant: “As a result of what happened [at ATIK], you were taken to custody at Llay and searched.
“On your person they (the police) found a ‘Kinder egg’ containing a small amount of cocaine for your own personal use.
“At the time of this incident at ATIK, you had drunk significantly more than was good for you and no doubt together with the impact of cocaine, you may have reacted in a way you would not normally.
“It’s clear cocaine is something you take on a social basis, but you’ve got to reflect on whether it agrees with you.
“When you take it with alcohol, you seem to think you’re invincible.”
The Judge imposed a 12 month community order with 175 hours of unpaid work.
Davies must also pay £600 compensation to his victim, as well as £85 costs.
He was also excluded from entering all on-licenced premises (pubs, clubs etc) in Wrexham city centre for nine months.
