A bouncer from Dartford accused of raping a woman near a London club has been named. Morenikeji Adewole, of Dunlop Close, was charged with rape earlier this week (November 13).
The man, also known by the names Olu Julius or Olusolu Alabi, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday (November 14). The 47-year-old has since been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday, December 11.
Following the incident, which allegedly occurred on November 1 near Heaven nightclub, located near Charing Cross, the venue has been forced to close. It’s claimed that other staff members ignored the victim’s attempts to report the assault.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “These incidents raise serious concerns about the venue’s ability to fulfil its obligations to protect its customers, in particular in relation to safeguarding.”
Westminster Council’s licensing committee decided that the nightclub’s licence should be suspended for up to 28 days until a full hearing can take place. This decision took effect immediately, meaning Heaven will not open from Friday, November 15 onwards, reports MyLondon.
The decision, following an application from the Metropolitan Police, was made on the grounds of public safety.
