Janine Robinson, from Sunderland, had been drinking in Newcastle city centre when trouble flared
A mental health nurse punched a bouncer and tried to kick him while out on a hen do in Newcastle.
Janine Robinson also called the victim a f****t as he tried to escort her out of a city centre bar and seconds before she lashed out. A court heard that the 36-year-old suffered from post traumatic stress syndrome following an assault at work and being led from the pub by the male security guard had “triggered her hypervigilance”.
Robinson punched the victim and kicked out but not serious injuries were cause. The 36-year-old, of Roker Avenue, in Sunderland, has now been fined £250 and ordered to pay £100 compensation after pleading guilty to assault by beating.
Sentencing her, District Judge Kate Meek said: “Assaults upon people who are working or doing their job are taken seriously by the courts, particularly in the night time economy, when people are drunk and difficult to deal with.
“I have not doubt, having watched the video, that you would have been caused great anxiety triggered by you hypervigilance. You have ended up punching the supervisor and kicking out at him. Was it not for your mitigation, you would be seeing the Probation Service.”
The court heard that Robinson was out on a hen do on September 21 last year. Lesley Burgess, prosecuting, added: “The complainant was simply doing his job by trying to assist the defendant out of the bar.
“He’s also assisted by a colleague. The defendant makes a comment that he’s a f****t and lashes out.” Neil Connell, defending, said Robinson had suffered from PTSD since being assaulted at work and got anxious in male company.
Mr Connell added: “On the day in question, she’d been on a hen night. She’s an occasional drinker and drank far more than usual and has very little in the way of recollection.”
Robinson, who has no past convictions, was also ordered to pay £85 costs.
