Huddersfield Five Bar boss speaks out as punter attacks doorman after being thrown out

Its owner Mark Hollingsworth says one of his doormen was assaulted by two men after refusing to be searched

Police are investigating a violent incident that took place between two men and door staff at one of Huddersfield town centre’s best-known pubs.

The incident took place sometime between 1am and 3am at Five Bar and the bar’s owner Mark Hollingworth said it was captured on CCTV.

He said: “I can confirm there was an incident on Thursday night.

“Two men assaulted a doorman after refusing to be searched. They were then ejected from the building.

“These individuals were clearly in the wrong and we have discussed the incident with the police and we have their support.

“Just to be very clear, our doorman was assaulted first – all captured on CCTV.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police are investigating reports of an alleged serious assault that took place at premises on Cross Church Street, Huddersfield, on 5 August. Enquiries are currently ongoing.”
