AN INTOXICATED man caused a Lake District bouncer to fear ‘immediate unlawful violence’ would be used against him as he unsuccessfully tried to kick and punch the door man.
Steven Phillpot was refused entry to the Stags Head in Bowness-on-Windermere at 9:45 pm while on a night out on April 26 this year.
Prosecutor Lee Dacre said the defendant kicked and punched at the complainant.
Before committing the assault, the court heard he told the man: ‘Do you know who I am. Search me on Google’.
Phillpot, 39, pleaded guilty to one count of common assault at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on May 22.
Trystan Roberts, representing the defendant, outlined the background to the offence.
Mr Roberts said: “He was wearing a high visibility jacket and wanted to go into the premises.
“The doorman urged him to move on when he was put in fear of unlawful violence. There was no contact made.
“The victim then put him to the floor. He was injured as a result of blows inflicted on him. It was a relatively short-lived assault.
“He stores electric charging points around the country. He often works away.”
The court heard Phillpot, of Springwood Avenue, Waterlooville, Hampshire, was subject to a previously imposed community order at the time.
Magistrates fined the defendant £533 for the offence.
He was also ordered to pay a £213 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
