Doorman Praised for alerting Emergency Services and assisting Man that was stabbed in attack outside bar in Leigh

A MAN has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed outside a popular bar.

Essex Police responded to reports a man had been assaulted outside The Vine, in Leigh Road, Leigh, in the early hours of this morning.

The victim, a man in his 20s, sustained stab wounds after being attacked around 30 metres away from the popular venue.

Essex Police confirmed they are investigating the incident and have urged anyone with information or footage to come forward.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “We are investigating an assault in Leigh-on-Sea.

“It was reported a man in his 20s was assaulted after confronting three men who were being inappropriate to women outside The Vine in Leigh Road at around 1.10am today.

“He sustained stab wounds and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

“Our inquiries are ongoing.”

Launching an appeal for information, he continued: “If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.

“Please quote the crime reference number 42/90241/23.”

A spokesperson for The Vine praised the quick action of their doorman who witnessed the incident take place close to the venue at the end of his shift, alerting emergency services and assisting the victim.

They said: “The incident took place after the closure of The Vine. In response, the doorman promptly intervened, providing assistance to the individual involved and subsequently transporting him to The Vine for medical attention.”
