A man who punched a bouncer who refused him entry had previously been banned from the pub, a court was told.
Adam Whipps had gone to the Royal Oak in Ipswich Street, Stowmarket, at about 9pm on June 14, Suffolk Magistrates’ Court was told.
The 25-year-old’s friends were allowed in – however the doorman refused to allow entry to Whipps, who had previously been barred.
The court heard that Whipps moved away, but then began a verbal argument with the bouncer from across the street.
The bouncer asked him to move on and turned his back. The court was told Whipps then ran over and punched the doorman in the back with a closed fist.
He had to be restrained for “quite some time” until the police arrived.
Whipps, of Combs Lane, Stowmarket, admitted a charge of assault by beating.
He was fined £266 and left with court costs of £110 and a £106-surcharge.
Whipps was not required to pay the doorman compensation as the prosecution did not have the required details for him.
