Arrest after ‘glass thrown’ at North Staffordshire Doorman

Police have made an arrest after a bouncer had a glass thrown at them. Two ambulances and cops were scrambled to High Street in Newcastle on Saturday night where the security worker was treated for ‘potentially serious’ injuries.

Now Staffordshire Police have confirmed a 31-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been quizzed over the attack. StokeonTrentLive reported how the incident happened outside Hogarths while it is understood fellow doormen went to the victim’s aid.

Emergency services were scrambled at around 9.45pm. There have been separate reports that the incident happened inside the venue.

A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman said: “We were called to a bar on High Street, Newcastle, after a man threw a glass which struck a member of security staff. Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital. He has since been discharged.”

A 31-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of wounding / inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and assault by beating.

The spokeswoman added: “He has since been released under investigation.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to an incident on High Street on Newcastle-under-Lyme at 9.43pm on Saturday. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and BASICS emergency doctor were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a man. He was treated for potentially serious injuries and conveyed to hospital.”
