“You should know better” Judge says to woman that assaulted two Doormen in Glasgow

Victoria Patterson, of Newton Mearns, was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court recently after pleading guilty to three charges.

The 34-year-old admitted to assaulting Oliver Romany and Aidan Gribbon as well as acting in a manner which was racially aggravated.

The court heard that between 8.50pm and 9.05pm on March 9, 2025, Patterson was in Wunderbar in Glasgow city centre when she came to the attention of security due to her level of intoxication.

Due to this, she was asked to leave; however, she refused.

Patterson then had to be escorted by security, and whilst they were trying to remove her, she struck stewards, Mr Romany and Mr Griffin.

Despite this, they managed to remove Patterson from the Buchanan Street bar and contacted police.

Police attended immediately and saw Patterson had been restrained by security. She was arrested and taken to the rear of a marked cell van.

Whilst on route to Cathcart police station, Patterson started shouting, “you can’t speak English” and “you’re not from this country”.

Patterson continued to make racial comments towards Police Constable Irina Mcdonald, who is from Russia, by stating “learn to speak English” and “imagine being Polish, it’s embarrassing”.

She was then processed and released on an undertaking.

Patterson’s lawyer told the court that his client “felt there was no requirement to be physically manhandling her” out of the venue.

The defence solicitor said: “She is the owner of a salon which specialises in hair and makeup. She works there six to seven days a week, and she has no other outstanding matters.

“There is a limited schedule, although I do accept that there have been previous analogous matters. Her position from the report is that she had been out all day with friends.

“She took exception to the conduct of the bouncers, and she felt there was no requirement to be physically manhandling her out of the locus.

“She struck two of the male stewards who had a hold of her; there was no injury caused. Police attended, and she made matters worse by the comments she made to the female officer.

“There is a clear level of remorse; she takes responsibility in respect of these matters.”

Addressing Patterson, Sheriff David Hall commented: “Clearly, you had far too much to drink on the night.

“Your behaviour both within the bar and on route to the police station was simply not acceptable. Your comments that were directed to Police Constable Mcdonald really do you no credit at all.

“You should know better.”

Patterson was fined £1275.
