Tributes have poured in after a Hampshire police officer died suddenly in the New Forest.
On Tuesday, February 11, response officer PC Alex Hazlett-Beard died in the New Forest after serving seven years in the force.
Hampshire Constabulary has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct over the death.
Tributes have begun flooding in after the passing of the Southampton policeman.
Facebook user, Marcel Culler said: “We had the privilege of training Alex to be a doorman.
He worked for Security Nation for a few years, turned out to be a really good doorman, and I believe this gave him a great grounding to join the police force.
“I saw Alex on duty many times – he always had time to come over and say Hello, boss, and this is truly shocking.
“The police force have lost a great guy – I can only say when he was one of our doorman, he was a top lad and more importantly genuinely someone who cared.”
Dean Coleman said: “Having my wife as a police officer I know how hard it is for a job mentally and physical.
“I for one really appreciate what you do – really hope you rest in peace and your family and friends get taken care of you have done them all justice in your time serving the country and police.”
The death is not being treated as suspicion and police are preparing a file for the coroner’s office.
It’s understood Hampshire police were carrying out a misconduct investigation at the time of PC Hazlett-Beard’s death.
Echo reader, Michaela Bond, said: “Rest in peace and thank you for your service. My thoughts are with your colleagues, family and friends. Rest easy.”
Mik Haines added: “Alex, I mourn your loss.
“Only those who have been there understand the pressure of being ‘under investigation’.”
Kev Maunder said: “It’s a hard enough job to do without the added stress of an investigation taking place.
“Many people forget the stress this job comes with and how much it can hurt you. Hope you are at peace and thoughts go to those left behind both friends and colleagues . RIP”
