Strange one!

Postby VikingPort » 30 Jan 2012, 17:36

Question- Job is advertised at 40 hours p/w at a specified site, how the problem comes with it being a term time only job, they dont specify this on their site and their contracts are zero hours. Would the advert count for anything?

Im asking because i work at a place now and its term time as well, job was advertised as 55 p/w but before i knew it id signed a zero hours contract and not got a leg to stand on, but if i were to go for this and get it would i have an argument as its advertised as i understand it a 'full time' job?

Cheers

The advert will be worthless. Your contract is what counts. The contract will say zero hours, and it will also say that your "assignments" may change at short notice etc...

Basically worker = no rights

Employer + employers clients = can do what ever is best for them with no thoughts to how the guy doing the job is going to pay his bills

It's whatever you sign up for, so zero hourscontract does exactly what it says on the label.

Client + employer = job , workers have more rights than ever, sometimes these rights make workers too expensive. As you say its the contract that counts, make sure you read and understand it before you sign.

Does the 16 week average rule help on this one, or is it a waste of time even discussing it guys?

I suspect they do zero hours for a treason, so it will have been set up in the companies favour.

It's early on a Wednesday morning, and even the noise nazis are allowed one or two errors!
