Last night a girl aged 18 was in the venue, she had I.D and had been in the venue around 2 hours, and managed to lose her I.D inside somewhere and after around 40 mins of searching and asking all the staff she couldn't find it. The manager then made us (the door staff) eject her due to having no I.D although she knew the situation. Was the manager right or wrong to do this? ...

Its an extremely unfortunate situation as the venue KNEW the girl was of age..... The problem though is the conditions of the premises alcohol license, EVERYONE needs to have ID if deemed required, IF by coincidence a local licensing officer did a spot check on that venue and requested the girls ID which they perfectly allowed to do. She COULDNT produce it for obvious reasons. At this point the venue is at risk of being fined & loosing its premises license as well as whoever was in charge at the time potentially loosing their personal license. As well as Doorstaff loosing their badge for breaking the conditions of the license, So unfortunate and sympathy but a cruel necessity im afraid.

Ive had it before when in a pub before you start shift not been id checked by bar staff we get there ask for id have none so there shown the door

I agree on the necessity in respect of licensing law. I’d also be concerned on her welfare, of making her into a vulnerable person, if she was leaving alone & would ask that one of her friends helps make sure she is safe, once she leaves venue. Not our responsibility, I know, but usually pointing out concerns will make friends ‘step up’ or help the girl make a safer decision on where or what she does next

I get the licencing side but the manager of the venue new the girl was of age, I personally think it was harsh although she should take better care of her I.D and she did leave with a friend and also just to complete the story we took her details and her I.D was found at the end of the night and she came to collect it
