Bouncer rushed to hospital after being stabbed in neck in 3am attack outside nightclub

A doorman was rushed to hospital after being stabbed outside a nightclub in Oldham.

The 23-year-old is believed to have suffered a slash wound in his neck during an incident at Liquid and Envy in the town centre.

Police and paramedics were called to the popular nightspot at 3am on Sunday.

The attack is said to have happened at the entrance to the club on Retiro Street. A friend of the doorman told the M.E.N. the attack happened after an incident inside the venue earlier.

The doorman was taken to hospital and is recovering with injuries said to be not life-threatening.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

The venue was packed with people who had been watching a performance by a band called Lotto Boyzz.

Police cordoned off a section of Retiro Street outside the venue as officers started an investigation.

One friend of the man, who declined to be named, said: “Something went off inside the club, some kind of altercation, and then the incident happened near the entrance.

“He was slashed from the neck down to his chest. He’s alright. It’s not life-threatening but obviously it’s a serious incident.”

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called to reports of a stabbing at the club at 3am on Sunday. A member of the doorstaff has been stabbed during the incident. However, his injuries are not life-threatening.

“A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.”

Following the latest incident, a statement from the club said: “We take the safety of our customers and team extremely seriously and will be cooperating fully with the police investigation.”
